Local Attractions

West Row –The River Lark runs through the village and makes a picturesque spot for fishing, ‘The Judes Ferry’ public house and restaurant overlooks the River Lark and is a leisurely walk away. A choice of golf courses are available, the nearest being just 1 mile away. There are plenty of excellent pubs and restaurants within 2-3 miles (3-5 km). Transport to and from the pubs, restaurants, rivers or golf courses can be arranged.

Newmarket – 20 minute drive – The Walnuts is a perfect base for anyone interested in horseracing. Your host Steve Rees, former apprentice, amateur jockey and assistant trainer loves to talk horses and racing past and present to anyone interested! We are only 20 mins from Newmarket and its two world-famous Racecourses, Tattersalls, the National Racing Museum and the National Stud. Tours are available on request. Visits to various racehorse training yards to meet the trainers and watch the horses on the gallops can also be arranged. You will be welcome to visit our own retired racehorses in our stables

Thetford Forest Park – 3 mile drive – The area is known for wildlife, beautiful landscapes and lakes being popular with walkers and cyclists, Center Parcs is a 20 minute drive away in Elvedon Forest, as is the adventure park Go Ape for those of you who like a more extreme physical activity!

The Mildenhall Stadium, home to the fen tigers to Speedway and Greyhound Racing is situated on West Row Fen, West Row. Next door to the stadium is Motoland Uk motocross-track.

The Mildenhall, Lakenheath and Feltwell American Airbases are close by and are very popular with aviation enthusiasts. They are far away enough not to disturb the village.

Lakenheath - Birdwatchers paradise, site of the rare Golden Oriole and the new RSPB visitors center at the 736 acre Lakenheath Fen. We are sensitive to the unusual bird watching hours and we are happy to provide out of hours early or late breakfasts.

Bury St. Edmunds – 30 minute drive – A historical treat with lots to see and do including the Abbey remains in the lovely Abbey Gardens. The Greene King Brewery offers tours and The Nutshell is heralded as Britains smallest pub. The arc, the new shopping centre is quite an awesome building.

Ely – 20 minute drive - The beautiful cathedral city of Ely, home of Oliver Cromwell, is abundant with gift, craft and antique shops, there are also art galleries, restaurants and marina. The restaurants by the river make a superb place to sit and relax with a glass of wine! Within easy reach of both Suffolk and Norfolk coasts
